Sayon (pronounced: Shayon) is a traveler’s soul with a camera in his backpack. He dived into photography when he was 17. Since then it has been one of his serious passion. He loves to weave into the magic of storytelling.

Deep Learning and and Image Processing fascinates him. By profession, he is a Data Scientist/ Software Engineer at trivago based in Düsseldorf. He concentrates on images there.

He is originally from Kolkata, India. He moved to Germany at 21 for his masters in Technische Universität Kaiserslautern. He worked as a research assistant at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence- DFKI at Kaiserslautern for a couple of years. He was then living in Heidelberg for a year while working at SAP HANA Earth Observation Analytics.

Although he might be tech-nerd, but a very outgoing person and likes spending time with friends and family. He loves to try out new food, cook creative recipes, explore culture, meet new people, try out new sports, travel to new places, and weave more stories!

He wrote his journey with images at My Imagery Story with Science and Art.

“The quest for finding a balance between photography and coding had already begun during my late teenage years in India. I was captivated by the world of photography while graduating in computer science. Being at the crossroads of science and art with images, led me to pursue a master’s in machine learning and image processing in Germany.

I had the opportunity to join the image domain in trivago three years ago, bringing value in the travel industry with image algorithms in data science and engineering. Beyond the core technical skills, trivago helped me to grow as a person with leadership opportunities at work, and incredible learning and social experiences beyond work itself. Travel, photography, and blogging continue to be a passion I nurture. I’m blessed to have been able to innovate and grow while blending passion and profession!”

Data is Gold, even with GDPR in pandemic! Last 48hrs in @euvsvirus Hackathon, Sergio, Giuseppe, Irina, and I 🛠 built an Interactive Voice Response System for anyone to make a 📞cellular call to our 🤖 Bot and gather voice-data on Firebase to improve training the existing prediction models. The VoiceMed team already 🚀 won Hackathons in the last few weeks to have the 📈 classification models in-place and ready to ingest more data, looking forward to that in the next days! ⚡️ Cheers to Chiara, Arianna, and everyone else from including the legal, funding, product, tech, and medical teams for leading, ideating, and collaborating! 😊
